Judge profile for Abbie May
Abbie May is a fully qualified, international celebrity make-up artist based in London, specialising in TV, video, red carpet, bridal, music videos and editorial.
UK based Abbie May started her career in makeup artistry in 2012. Abbie's creativity came through from a young age, after initially thinking she wanted to pursue a career in acting and music, she soon realised it wasn't her long term dream despite loving the talent side of things. After some research and thinking about her future, she decided to enrol in a hair & media makeup course - she quickly fell in love with the world of makeup and never looked back.
After qualifying, Abbie focussed on getting her name out there through social media. Soon after, she was introduced to one of her first celebrity clients - Maya Jama, through a friend. She worked with Maya regularly for a few years whilst building her clientele with the social awareness she gained, which led her to work with more industry names such as Yasmin Evans and Neelam Gill.
Abbie is recognised for both her creative skillset as a makeup artist, but also her diverse ability to work with all skin tones, genders and ages, creating a bespoke look that works best for them. In 2014, she was approached to take on the role of lead makeup artist for Africa Fashion Week and still continues to work with them five years later. Her dedication and commitment to the makeup world has gained her a loyal and engaged following both on and offline.
Her portfolio includes editorial work for publications such as Wonderland, W and Vogue International, and working on campaigns for brands such as Adidas, Sleek Makeup, Mary Kay and Sneakersnstuff. Abbie also continues to focus on and regularly work with her celebrity clients such as Vick Hope, Shawn Mendes and Nathalie Emmanuel.
MAIDA MONEY AGENCY was recently founded by Abbie May in 2018. Abbie May wanted to create her own agency after being approached by other agency's, signing with them and not feeling fulfilled with the work and support she was promised.
"I have created an agency that I would have loved to be represented by myself. I found through my own experiences that other agencies couldn't match my productivity or increase my client list. Throughout my career, even before I started the agency I have always brought opportunities to others and think it is something we should all encourage in this industry. Being paid correctly and on time is just one of the things I make sure any artist represented by MAIDA MONEY receive. I understand people's dreams and I can help them achieve them way beyond what they think is possible within the industry." - Abbie May
She has started out with a small team of talented creatives to be able to focus on increasing their profile. Abbie May has already booked her represented artists on shoots on Sleek Make Up campaigns, Takeshi's Castle, MTV's MTV STAX and worked with many celebrities including H.E.R for The BRITs, Bebe Rexha for a front cover magazine and Capital FM's breakfast show presenters Vick Hope & Roman Kemp.
